Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to officially inaugurate SEMICON India 2024 today at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida. The event, starting at 10:30 AM, will prominently feature India’s strategic vision for the semiconductor industry.
The three-day conference, themed “Shaping the Semiconductor Future,” is a key element of PM Modi’s comprehensive plan to establish India as a global leader in semiconductor design, manufacturing, and technology. Running from September 11 to 13, the event is anticipated to draw considerable interest from industry leaders and stakeholders.
To bolster India’s semiconductor industry, SEMI and Messe Muenchen India are collaborating with the Electronic Industries Association of India (ELCINA) to host the inaugural SEMICON India 2024 event in Greater Noida, Delhi NCR, from September 11-13, 2024. This event will be held alongside electronica India and productronica India, the largest electronics industry fairs in Southeast Asia.
Similar to other SEMICON expositions worldwide, SEMICON India 2024 will feature extensive exhibitions, insightful programs, and unparalleled networking opportunities. Attendees will have the chance to meet local leaders and government officials, and explore India’s expanding semiconductor ecosystem to identify new business opportunities.

“Leading Semiconductor CEOs Praise PM Modi’s Vision at Executives’ Roundtable”
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi chaired the Semiconductor Executives’ Roundtable today at 7, LKM, where he discussed various topics related to the semiconductor sector. He emphasized how this sector can drive global development and highlighted the reforms making India an attractive investment destination.
The CEOs expressed their appreciation for India’s dedication to the semiconductor industry’s growth, noting the unprecedented gathering of industry leaders under one roof.
Sanjay Mehrotra, CEO of Micron, praised PM Modi’s vision for developing semiconductors in India and enhancing self-reliance. He found the policies incentivizing semiconductor manufacturing in India very exciting, stating, “This is the perfect timing for India’s semiconductor mission, as AI will grow, opportunities will increase, and I believe the best is yet to come.”
Ajit Manocha, CEO of SEMI, lauded PM Modi’s exceptional leadership, saying it has inspired not only India but the entire world. “Modi’s leadership is so compelling that the whole world is joining me at this summit,” he added.
Kurt Sievers, CEO of NXP, expressed his excitement and delight over Prime Minister Modi’s vision, consistency, and foresight regarding the development of India’s semiconductor industry ecosystem. He noted that he has never encountered a world leader with such profound expertise in the semiconductor industry as PM Modi.
Randhir Thakur, CEO of TEPL, highlighted the semiconductor industry’s enthusiasm for PM Modi’s vision and his approach to the future of India’s digital infrastructure. He emphasized that semiconductors will play a crucial role in achieving Viksit Bharat.
Bob Pragada, CEO of Jacobs, praised the Prime Minister’s efforts to elevate India on the global stage, stating that this is what both India and the world need. He predicted that India will be at the forefront of the upcoming manufacturing renaissance and could become a global leader within the next decade.

Luc Van Den Hove, CEO of IMEC, was highly impressed with PM Modi’s leadership and commitment to making India a powerhouse in semiconductor technology. Anirudh Devgan, CEO of Cadence, praised PM Modi’s leadership over the past few years, noting the significant momentum in the semiconductor sector compared to three years ago. He expressed optimism about the continuous improvements and his involvement from the beginning.
Sassine Ghazi, President & CEO of Synopsys, highlighted the increased enthusiasm and focus on the semiconductor sector over the past two to three years, driven by a clear strategy for investment from design to manufacturing. He observed a growing interest in creating products for both local and global markets.
Prof. Arogyaswami Paulraj, Emeritus at Stanford University, acknowledged the significant progress India has made in the semiconductor industry, attributing it to PM Modi’s vision and drive.
Vellayan Subbiah, Chairman of CG Power, described the current period as an exciting time for the semiconductor industry, predicting unprecedented growth and lauding the exceptional level of industry-government collaboration.
Prof. Pradeep Khosla, Chancellor of UCSD, praised PM Modi’s visionary leadership in the Semiconductor Mission, noting that no previous administration had the courage to implement the right policies for semiconductors. He expressed confidence in the Prime Minister’s commitment to success.
