Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, government scheme was launched by Hon’ble Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 22nd January 2015 at Panipat, Haryana, to protect the interest of the girl children and ensure their education.
The aim of the scheme Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) is to educate citizens of India against gender bias and improve the efficacy rate and welfare services for girls. This program was launched with the initial funding of Rs100 Cr.
The Scheme is laid down, under the control of Ministries of Women and Child Development, Human Resource Development, and Health & Family Welfare.
Census conducted during the year 2011, indicates a
significant decline in Child Sex ratio (CSR) recording an all-time low of 918
girls for every 1000 boys. 13 out of 35 states and UTs have CSR lower than the
national average.
To improve, the CSR government has selected 100 districts based on low Child Sex Ratio as per Census 2011 covering all states / UTs on a
pilot project basis covering at least one district in each state.

Eligibility for Beti Bachao Beti Padhao
The eligibility criteria for Beti Bachao Beti Padhao is as follows
- The family should have a girl child below 10 years of age.
- Sukanya Samridhi Account should be available.
- The girl child should be a resident Indian. NRI citizens do not possess eligibility for the BBBP scheme.
How to Apply for Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme
This process can be easily done by visiting a bank or post office, where this scheme can be chanelized.
Fill up the form for BBBP /SSA by yourself and attach all supporting documents
It is required to submit a filled application form along with all its supporting documents to the concerned authority available to open an account in your girl’s name and for her to reap the benefits in the future.
Documents Required
There are a few documents that are required for the successful implementation of this scheme. Here is a checklist
Birth Certificate issued by any recognised government body or a hospital.
Proof of Identity of the Parents, namely Ration Card and Aadhar Card among others.
Proof of Address, namely Utility bills such as telephone bill, electricity bill or water bill and also Driving License or Passport among others.
